Born in Venice, Marco is a professional orchestral musician.
“My relationship with photography arose as a game, as a childlike pleasure in observing the world and trying to capture situations and details that intrigue or amuse me through the camera.
My approach is very spontaneous, eschewing long preparation, just walking in places, often typical of everyday life and allowing myself to be fascinated by the combination of elements that are more representative of people rather than of objects. Therefore photography is for me a means to investigate the places of my daily life.
Malta is an island that continues to offer inspiration; the light, the typical colour of the stone used to construct the cities, the people and also the ties to tradition such as festive days, religion, life on the street and all the various aspects that make Malta such a characteristic place.
The past, tradition and the change of places are therefore the themes that interest me most in taking photos, though with the conscious intent of avoiding a vision that is too “touristic” or banal.”

Technical Info
Analogue photography has some complex technical jargon, learn what they mean.
Exhibition Story
In today’s digital environment, analogue photography is converted into digital files to be consumed through electronic devices and immediately shared over multiple social media sites. The immediacy and amount of images shared online raises questions not only about our social interactions but even more so on how photography is used; when the choice of shared images is based on the number of likes and social approval to be gained rather than to share the photographic experience.
